Echoed Scenery

Anbuh and Vera Hadzhiyska

Echoed Scenery is a duo photography exhibition by South Korean artist Anbuh and Bulgarian artist Vera Hadzhiyska which brings together photographic works and publications developed through an ongoing international collaboration that explores cultural exchange, memory, and shared visual language between Bulgaria and South Korea.

The exhibition combines existing and new work across two interconnected series —Silent Dialogues and Echoed Scenery. By creating a visual conversation between two distant geographies, the exhibition and publications explore how images might function as a shared language, revealing both difference and unexpected similarity.

The collaboration began in 2024 with Silent Dialogues (shown at Photo Fringe 2024). In 2025 the artists expanded their collaboration through a new photographic exchange titled Echoed Scenery (visible here in the online gallery). Through parallel visual narratives shaped by their everyday surroundings, the artists explore how photography can bridge geographical and cultural distance.

The physical exhibition presents photographic prints alongside a set of three publications, which were designed in collaboration with South Korean writer and publisher Boa Song. The two photobooks - Silent Dialogues and Echoed Scenery – are accompanied by an essay written by Boa Song offering as reflection on the artists’ collaborative methodology and visual exchange.

In a contemporary context shaped by migration, global disruption, and shifting notions of belonging, this project offers a quiet reflection on our shared human experience.
