OPEN ECO: Nasrah Omar, Portal I (2023)

A tabletop altar built as homage to the neolithic stone circles and standing stones I have visited on foot as part of the series Thresholds. I wanted to hold the atavistic charge of those sites in the way stone seems to keep time differently than we do and let that aura transmit even at miniature scale. This is an offering made in the studio to something encountered outdoors, still carrying the awe of that first meeting. These stones have stood for millennia and building a small devotional landscape in their likeness is my way of asking what we owe these enchanting sites in return.
