OPEN ECO: Kerstin Rudnick, As times go bye (2025)
Does nature have the capacity to repair the damage we inflict upon it? Can it heal itself and erase the traces we leave behind? Cars are symbols of human technological progress, of status, and of our freedom of movement. Yet they also symbolize our thoughtless emissions and our reluctance to change for the sake of nature. This photograph was taken at an abandoned auto repair shop near Kyrkö Mosse in southern Sweden, where vegetation is slowly taking over and obliterating the traces of human activity.
Based in Halmstad in southwestern Sweden, Kerstin Rudnick holds a bachelor’s degree in both textile art and visual arts education. Active as an artist, working primarily with photography, Kerstin has participated in several juried exhibitions and group shows, and has held three solo exhibitions in recent years.
Recipient of the Halland Art Association Grant (2003), the Halmstad Cultural Grant (1997) and the Lions Cultural Grant (1994).
