OPEN ECO: Kate Weybret, River Wife (2026)

In 2023, Bristol native Megan Ruth-Trump became the UK’s first “River Wife,” marrying the River Avon in a bold act of love, protest, and eco-art to raise awareness of river pollution. I joined the 2026 pilgrimage for the Avon, organised by the environmental group We Are Avon, and captured Meg, a key organiser, in a fleeting, intimate moment with her beloved river. The image reflects the deep, spiritual connection between humans and nature, blending activism with art. Here, Meg’s blissful immersion in the Avon’s waters becomes a symbol of resilience, reverence, and the urgent call to protect our vital ecosystems.
