Formations

Having collaborated in various configurations over the past two decades, most recently exhibiting together in the 2024 edition of Photo Fringe, this year’s edition is an opportune time to extend the conversation between these artists’ photographic practices. Bringing together new and existing works, the exhibition traces points of connection, divergence and exchange. While some pieces revisit themes and dialogues established in previous collaborations, others chart independent paths, reflecting the evolving nature of each artist’s approach. Together, the works create a dynamic space for reflection on both shared histories and individual trajectories.

Lucy Carr-McClave

Lucy Carr-McClave is a creative filmmaker, photographer and archaeologist. Her work is an artistic exploration of archaeological theory and practice, with a particular focus on the relationship between people, material and place. Her work is centred around how we interpret the past and the process of unearthing it.

Brian McClave

Brian McClave is an experimental filmmaker and photographer, making work that investigates the intersection between landscape, seasons and human history.

Gavin Peacock

Gavin Peacock studied fine art painting in the early 1990s and since then has exhibited work in many medias; painting, sculpture, interactive artworks, photography and video including multiple collaborations with Brian McClave and Tom Wichelow for public art projects and film festivals. He now works mostly as a print and zine maker using photographic images as a means of travelogue and story telling.

Jemma Treweek

Jemma Treweek is an artist and printmaker who uses the photographic image in her work. Making dreamlike composites that hold both document and invention, her practice returns to places that carry a charge. Standing stones, burial sites, forest margins and to the stories, spells and seasonal rites and costumes that have grown up around them over millennia. She has a two-decade long hand-pulled screen-print practice, and has made limited-edition posters for some of rock and roll’s most enduring names. Her prints are held in the collection at the V&A

Tom Wichelow

After studying photography at Brighton University Tom Wichelow has worked as a photographer and educator for over 20 years. His calling was always to try to document with his camera and in another life he might have been an archivist. He completed a post graduate degree in documentary film making in 2018 and has helped produce several successful documentary films. He currently teaches A-Level photography and has just qualified as a therapeutic counsellor.
