Portsmouth Open: Laurene Bois-Mariage

Part of Little Ecological Fable series, The Forest 4 is a video loop featuring an edit of Antti Laitinen´s Fall And Rise, a pair of Nike Air Jordan shoe tree cardboard inserts, and a camo pattern background from VectorStock.

Little Ecological Fable - The Forest is a research-based series dealing with image-making and ecology, questioning the ethical challenges and the limits of the sustainability of artistic production. It browses representations of nature, looks on both the creative field and this of the land, and scans agrarian metaphors used within the former: compression, grain, broadcasting, culture, farm…

Grounded in appropriation, the organically evolving experimental corpus that is The Forest consists of harvested pictures, images, quotes, edits and mockups. The whole is deliberately sparse; run by an economy of means, of the few, the not much.

The project is supported by Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
