We Feed The UK
3 April - 22 June 2025
The Royal Photographic Society, Bristol
The Gaia Foundation brings together the nationwide collection of all ten stories from the campaign We Feed The UK for the first time.
Across a country that is 71% farmland, where less than half of our biodiversity remains, restorative practices are the root to future resilience.
We Feed The UK is a major arts project pairing critically acclaimed photographers and poets with regenerative farmers, urban growers, sustainable fishers and grain rebels: the UK’s custodians of land, soil, sea and seed.
As the south east partner in the campaign, Photo Fringe commissioned Arpita Shah who presented her exhibition Sankofa during our festival in October 2024. Arpita was paired to work with the farmers at Black Rootz and Go Grow with Love; two London growing projects addressing injustices in the food system, recognising that genuine sustainability is rooted in equality.
Performance poet Zena Edwards was commissioned in collaboration with the Hot Poets; an organisation communicating climate change science through spoken word poetry.
Following each exhibition to date of each regional WFTUK Story, The Gaia Foundation are exhibiting the complete photographic and poetic works from the campaign at The Royal Photographic Society, Bristol.
“It’s important to remember that we are making the culture, and culture makes mindsets.” Poet Dizraeli, speaking about We Feed The UK on BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme:listen here
