Portsmouth Photography Meet Up

Monday 22 July
6pm - 8pm
Treadgolds, Portsmouth

Free

Hosted by our friends at Photoworks, join us at Treadgolds for an introduction to Photo Fringe 2024.

Our biennial open-platform photography festival returns this October with exhibitions and events across and beyond our home city of Brighton & Hove. We’ll be stretching along the coast from Newhaven to Worthing and this year, for the very first time, to Portsmouth.

Here's an opportunity for Portsmouth creatives to find out more, see how they can get involved and pick up tips for staging their very own Photo Fringe exhibitions.

The evening will include a tour of Treadgold's exhibition space and cover tips for exhibitors such as finding a venue, project management, displaying your work, marketing, plus of course a chance to meet other photographers.

  • Photo Fringe Festival Director, Claire Wearn, will introduce the programme and explain how to get involved.
  • Andy Ford, master printer at Spectrum Photographic will share his expertise on printing, papers and finishes.
  • Award-winning photographer Vera Hadzhiyska will talk about her experience as a Photo Fringe online exhibitor and her role as co-curator for the upcoming University of Portsmouth show at the Eldon Building.

Over the summer, Photoworks is holding three meetup events with the photography community in Portsmouth. Come along to listen to inspiring speakers, network with fellow photographers, exchange information and tour potential exhibition spaces. More dates to be announced soon.

Part of the Photoworks Photography Champions Programme, a national initiative led by Photoworks, supported by public funding through Arts Council England’s National Portfolio.
