Brighton Photo Fringe is a registered charity and is governed by a Board of Trustees.

The Board is currently expanding and looking for new members.

This is an exciting opportunity for committed individuals to become part of a forward thinking and dynamic organisation.

To build on the skills already present within the existing membership BPF is particularly interested in recruiting individuals who can demonstrate the following:

  • Creative marketing and/or PR skills and press networks
  • Fundraising skills and networks
  • Financial management skills
  • Business acumen and entrepreneurial experience of generating income for the not-for-profit sector.

Board membership is voluntary and non-remunerated. Meetings are held every two months.
The term of office is 3 years.

Trustees are expected to attend a minimum of four meetings per year, usually in the evening in Brighton, with additional meetings scheduled as required, and hands-on help expected during the run up to the biennial festivals.

Trustees oversee the governance of the charity, act as ambassadors and are expected to be proactive in supporting fundraising activities. As a small charity with limited funds Trustees also can join Task and Finish Groups to assist with the delivery of our programme of activities.

As a Trustee, you will support the Photo Fringe to be an ambitious, innovative and resilient organisation committed to collaboration with all kinds of people.

Brighton Photo Fringe is actively striving to be an inclusive organisation. We are keen to widen the diversity of our board members and encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences.

An excellent publication by the Charity Commission – The Essential Trustee - explains the key duties of all trustees of charities in England and Wales, and what trustees need to do to carry out these duties competently.
